Wedding photography Dordogne, France. I remember that first email I had from Jo & Adam. They were 99% set on a date and would love me to photograph their wedding if I was available, which fortunately I was. Wonderful news. There was though one minor thing to finalise: the venue. Jo and Adam asked me if I could recommend anywhere where a passport was required. In other words, a destination wedding. I reeled off my top ten favourite wedding venues, all of which were in the UK, and then I threw in a curve ball. A gorgeous chateau in The Dordogne where Carolina Herrera had shot her latest perfume campaign, directed by the uber talented Tim Walker. It's a breathtaking wedding venue and I thought there was no harm in mentioning it, in a blue sky kind of way. Of course, as soon as Jo & Adam caught a glimpse of Chateau La Durantie, it was love at first sight and they booked flights there and then and planned to visit the venue at the weekend to see for themselves what it was really like. The rest, as they say, is history. On the day of the wedding, it was fabulous weather. Hot but given the fact it was September, not blistering so. Jo & Adam married in the grounds of the chateau....oh how I adore garden weddings! Some great details worth a look including table names using album sleeves from the 1980's, which had been re-touched to make it look like the guests names were the track listings. Genius idea. Between courses, we eloped for some bride and groom shots though were keeping half an eye on the weather as we knew a storm was on its way. Fortunately we made it back to the marquee just before the heavens opened and the most incredible electrical storm arrived overhead. The rain came down in sheets! Thanks to my wing man this weekend Nitin Kapoor who was my brilliant second shooter. Huge gratitude also extended to Victoria, Charlotte and Ralph from Chateau La Durantie for looking after us so beautifully and a massive thank you goes out to Jo & Adam for making a memorable weekend in France.
